Who we are

The game and website are operated by Thomas Lay (South Harbour Studios), Denmark. Data questions: hello@ruthlessreturns.com.

The newsletter

If you sign up for the newsletter, we store your email address, your language choice and the time of sign-up. The sole purpose is to send you news about the game and the upcoming Kickstarter campaign. The address is stored with our data processor Cloudflare, is never shared with anyone, and is not used for anything else. You can be deleted at any time by writing to hello@ruthlessreturns.com, and every newsletter will contain an unsubscribe option.

The game and your saves

Your saved games, settings and language choice live exclusively in your own browser (localStorage) and never leave your device. No account is required to play.

Online multiplayer

When you play online, the game state itself (moves, cards, chat) is shared with the other players at your table. On open tables, all traffic is routed through Cloudflare's relay servers, so your IP address is not shared with other players. In private games (where you share a code with friends), the connection may be direct, in which case your IP address is technically visible to your fellow players, as with any direct internet communication. Chat messages are automatically filtered for profanity and are not stored on any server.

Technical operation and analytics

The website is served via Cloudflare, which briefly processes IP addresses in technical logs for operational and security purposes. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for visitor statistics — it is cookie-free, does not profile you, and does not track you across websites. We set no marketing cookies.

Error reports

If the game encounters a technical error, it sends an anonymous error report (error text and game version — no personal data) so we can fix it. Reports are deleted automatically after 30 days.

The Steam version

If you play via Steam, Steam (Valve Corporation) additionally processes data under Valve's own privacy policy.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify and delete the information we hold about you (in practice: your email address, if you are subscribed to the newsletter). Write to hello@ruthlessreturns.com. EU residents may also complain to their local data protection authority.
